Take tips while you stream
Viewers tip you from your page while you stream, and each tip shows up on your stream with their name and a note.
Set it up
- Connect HitPay to the page in Settings › Payments. A tip is paid into your own account, like a sale.
- Add a Tip block. Give it up to four amount buttons, and choose whether viewers may type another amount and leave a note. Publish the page.
- Open Live and select Overlay. Copy the overlay’s link and add it to OBS or Streamlabs as a browser source.
- Select Send a test tip to see one on your stream. A test tip is never kept or counted.
Admins and owners set up Live. Share your page’s link on your stream so viewers can find the Tip block.
The overlay
Pick a look (Stamp, Chalk, Note or Receipt), its colours (your page’s, or one of Carya’s), where the alert shows, and whether it plays a sound and shows notes. Add a goal, such as “New microphone”, with a target, and the overlay shows a bar that fills as tips come in. Start the goal over in Live takes the bar back to zero. Changes reach the open overlay without reloading it.
What viewers can say
A tipper may give a name of up to 40 characters and a note of up to 120. Links are taken out of notes. Every note is checked before it shows. A tip whose words don’t pass, or that has one of your Banned words, plays as Someone without its words, and the words wait in Live under held notes, where you can show them on stream after all or delete them. Tips below Smallest tip that shows its note play with the name only.
Fees
Live is on every plan. A tip is a sale through Carya checkout, with the same fee as a Buy button: 10% on Free, 0% on Plus, Pro and Teams. See How payouts work. Tips show in Live and in Sales.
